This gun reform coloring page attempts to capture the surreal experience of walking past a car with an “Abortion Stops A Beating Heart” bumper sticker right next to one that says “I don’t do warning shots” and a decal of an AR-15.
Personally, I’ve always been comfortable interacting with the general public without needing to carry the means to kill everyone I meet. But then, I’m not a member of
a fetishistic death cult the NRA. If we’re going to make lasting progress on gun violence prevention, we need to challenge a culture that claims labels like “pro-life” and “pro-freedom” while worshipping instruments of oppression and death. We need to stop writing off an obsession with the tools of violence as a harmless eccentric hobby.
If we want to be able to enact common-sense gun reform, we need to start promoting a culture of common sense. We need to stop accepting the idea that an opinion about guns is invalid if the holder doesn’t know that AR stands for Armalite Rifle, and start promoting the idea that an opinion about guns is invalid if the holder doesn’t know that having a gun in a house makes everyone in that house less safe.
(And while we’re at it, no state where you are allowed to murder someone because they trespassed on “your” land should be forcing women to accept a trespasser inside one of their internal organs.)
